On behalf of the major translator and interpreter associations worldwide, advocacy organizations, and academia, we are voicing our deep concern for the safety of our colleagues who have served the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in Afghanistan. Forced into hiding or exile, and threatened by insurgents who view them as traitors, these linguists are currently stranded in refugee camps and other venues across Asia and Europe, living in fear and uncertainty.
